Our Story

This isn't your typical girl meets boy at church or on a dating app story... (Though beautiful stories come from that too)

But this is a story that only God himself could write. This is the story of two strangers who met in 2019 at two of their best friends' wedding, walking down the aisle together as groomsman & bridesmaid... Not knowing that 5 & 1/2 years later they'd be saying their own "I do's" with one another. Pete, knowing from the start that the groom was trying to set him up with his wife-to-be's friend; Tracy, being completely naive & not knowing until pretty recently that her friend was secretly praying they would end up together. But they had a bit of a rough start. Tracy still remembers Pete sitting on the edge of the dance floor- leaned back, arms crossed, gawky & googly-eyed, with a little smirk on his face. Tracy- irritated, rolling her eyes, wondering why he wouldn't just get up & dance with her. (Pete, however, will tell you that he has no recollection of this ever happening.) Nevertheless, a couple months later they saw each other again at their friend's surprise birthday party, & ended up sitting outside on the cinderblock wall for what felt like 2 hours, just chatting about the Lord (Pete mostly sharing his testimony about how God had radically transformed his life & how he ended up in San Diego). Tracy left that night thinking *wow, he's definitely not who I thought he was.* But shortly after, Tracy felt like the Lord had abruptly called her to move back to Temecula. With a bit of hesitation (but full of faith) she left behind her full-time job & new bedroom that she had just moved into, in order to help a friend get a new business off the ground. Nothing about the move made sense, but as she looks back now, she can see just how strategic God was being. And Pete? Well Pete was a midwest boy from Kansas City. He came from a big family whom all had practically stayed pretty close to one another, geographically. He too had relocated, in faith, but after some time, began questioning what he was really doing so far away from his family. Nevertheless he got rooted in San Diego, became a part of an incredible community of Jesus lovers, excelled in his work as an outreach worker (helping the homeless), & even got awarded "Outreach Worker of the Year" over all of San Diego. For the sake of not oversharing, let’s just say that Tracy was in a short-term relationship in early 2022, when one day she looked over at her boyfriend and thought, *I wish he had a heart like Pete* *Wait, what?!* *Where did that come from?* Weird... Over a year had passed since she had even seen or talked to Pete. But she knew that the person she was meant to spend the rest of her life with should have the most beautiful heart she had ever seen. So weeks after she had ended the relationship, Tracy scoped out Pete's FB to see what he was up to. She couldn’t stop thinking about how strange that thought was. She wound up messaging him to let him know how blessed she was by his latest FB post, and within that week they jumped on a phone call to catch up a bit. She had been planning to move back to San Diego, so Pete decided to connect her with the girls who were renting a room at the very house she would end up moving into. Over the next year Pete & Tracy built a solid friendship in community, seeing each other frequently, just observing each others character. And on March 31st, 2023 Pete confessed his feelings for Tracy and his intentions to pursue her, only for her to turn him down the very next day. Though the feelings were mutual, she couldn't tell him. She was scared and uncertain. She wanted to know that it was really God's will. Over the next 6 weeks, she prayed. She prayed a lot. And as they served in their community together, she couldn't help but realize that he was the one she wanted to serve God with for the rest of her life. So on May 8, 2023 Tracy changed her "no" to a "yes". And over that year, her "yes" turned into a "heaven yes!" And on July 4, 2024 that "heaven yes" grew into a "forever yes" that will only keep on growing.
