Nikki's Version I was in Nashville before heading out on tour with Big Daddy Weave and we were at Soundcheck for tour rehearsals when Andrew came in to say hi to everyone. At one point he mentioned he was working for Kelsea Ballerini and one of my tour Bff’s (Eryn West) looks at me and says, “You probably like her, huh?” I responded with, “Yeah, actually I do!” Fast forward one week and we had a day off in Nashville. I wasn’t feeling great, so I stayed at the hotel. I get an Instagram message from our friend Keeran and it’s a picture of Andrew in a Transparent Productions jacket. We started talking through Keeran’s Instagram until we became Instagram friends. Once we did, we chatted every day until I moved to Nashville that August we had our first date! He wasted no time! Andrew's Version On one cold and fateful evening in February of 2019, I needed to stop by a storage locker at Soundcheck to pack up a few things for a tour starting later that week. As I walked into the building, I saw a few of the Big Daddy Weave band guys as they were leaving for the night. They mentioned that their crew was still in the rehearsal room if I wanted to go say hi to everyone. After a while of catching up with them, our mutual friend, Eryn West, asked what I was up to for the year. I mentioned that I had been working for a country singer named Kelsea Ballerini. He turned around to this gorgeous girl wearing a black sweatshirt and beanie working away at her computer. He half asked/half said she probably liked Kelsea. When she replied, “Yeah! Actually I do!”, it was the perfect chance to introduce myself! I looked her up on Instagram as I was leaving Soundcheck but was afraid it would be creepy to reach out, let alone that quickly. A week or so later, I was getting ready to go to our neighborhood bar for Mule Monday, a weekly tradition with my friends, when I heard some of the Big Daddy Weave crew were in town for a day off and might be joining us. I had an old sweatshirt from Transparent Productions, who Nikki works for, so I wore it to the bar in the event she showed up. I thought it would be the perfect icebreaker in case she didn’t remember me. When we got to the bar and Nikki was nowhere to be found, I kept trying to find subtle ways to ask if she would be joining us. Eventually, our friend Keeran noticed my sweatshirt and thought it would be funny to send her a video on Instagram of me wearing it. We sent a few videos back and forth through Keeran’s Instagram. Finally, the perfect chance to slide into her DM’s! We talked every day from that point forward, until she moved to Nashville that August. I didn’t want to take any chances on her being introduced to a new dating pool in Nashville, so I asked her on our first date the day her mom flew home after helping her move across the country! Greg, my roommate at the time, gave us passes to see Johnnyswim downtown at Live On the Green. She has been putting up with my cheesiness ever since!
I had an annual family trip to Hawaii and we were going to dinner. Sarah, Nolan, and I were "going to get the car," but we were walking a weird way that took us closer to the ocean. When we rounded a corner, Andrew was standing there by a lookout point near the water. I had an hunch it was going to happen, but he kept trying to throw me off the scent, so when I first saw him there I yelled, "You liar!" Then I went over and he bent down to fake tie his shoe (he had done this a few times) and then pulled the ring out of his pocket. Such an easy YES! We later walked down to the beach bar where my family was there to help us celebrate! We can't wait to celebrate with YOU in February!
