Our Love Story

written & edited by Hadley and Joey

We met in Vermont on Joey’s very first day of work at Farmhouse Pottery. Plot twist: Hadley was technically his boss. Joey immediately assumed she had to have a fiancé or long-term partner (because obvious reasons, she's amazing), but when he discovered she didn’t, he started finding very strategic ways to spend more time around her. If you ask Joey, he definitely set her up. If you ask Hadley, she was clearly the mastermind behind it all. Hadley was looking for someone to watch her pup, Oakley, on Thursdays, conveniently one of Joey’s days off. Joey selflessly volunteered (for the dog, of course), and just like that, a friendship began. Before long, Thursdays turned into weekends, and weekends turned into carefully planned dates built around each other’s schedules. Vermont became our little love bubble. Between work, adventures, and plenty of time getting to know one another, it was where we truly fell in love. After three wonderful years, we packed up our lives and headed back to Pennsylvania to pursue our MFAs. Somewhere between applications, portfolios, and stress-induced coffee consumption, we both decided to attend PennWest Edinboro, and Joey decided it was time to propose. That moment came on a camping trip to Errol, Maine. The town had exactly one strip: a bar, a gas station, and maybe four houses. Remote would be an understatement. We went on a very intense hike up a mountain and almost turned back multiple times. But at the top, with one of the most breathtaking, otherworldly views either of us had ever seen, Joey proposed. And just like that, after Vermont, fly tying, pottery, fishing, hiking, portfolios, and one unforgettable mountaintop, we said yes to forever.
