Emily had signed a contract with a private practice in small town Danville, Kentucky. Within her first week of her new job she meets the student doctor who was interning there that summer. He was shadowing one of the associate doctors. She was briefly introduced but couldn’t remember his name. Maybe Tyler? But anytime he had worked up one of her patients the name in the chart popped up “Robert”. Rather than asking him again what his name was, she just waited to hear what other people called him. Travis. Fast forward a month or so, and Emily had found a townhouse in Danville to rent and needed help moving from Lexington to Danville. Dr. Mike suggested paying the intern, Travis, to help her move. And so one Saturday in July, Travis met Emily’s parents and they moved her from Lexington to Danville. Travis helped Emily anytime she asked. From moving, to getting her Jeep and even pranking Dr. Mike (after Mike and Travis had already pranked Emily of course), slowly but surely Emily and Travis became friends. And by the time he left his Danville rotation to finish his 4th year of optometry school, they decided they wanted to continue seeing each other. Travis asked Emily on a date. And she said yes.
Marriage had been discussed, but Travis still managed to surprise Emily with a proposal. Emily works Saturdays from 9-4. So after a Saturday shift and the end of her work week she headed home, looking forward to some dog lovins and a relaxed evening in. She got to their apartment and at the door there were a dozen roses with a handwritten note. She read the note, slowly opened the door and walked in. Inside the lights were off, music was playing, and there were rose petals and tea lights lining a path on the floor down the hallway. Emily followed the path and at the end stood Travis, ring in hand. He dropped to one knee.... Travis asked Emily to marry him. And she said yes.
