❤️🇨🇳Mason and Hadassah’s Story🇱🇷❤️ I met Mason Strickland at the Deaf Awaken Conference in Dallas, Texas, from September 1-3, 2023. On that Friday afternoon, Mason was looking for his friends. I saw him and asked who he was looking for, and he replied, "My friend." I said, "He is somewhere around here." Then I asked, "What is your name?" and he answered, "Mason." In my mind, I thought he was really cute and handsome and that he seemed quiet and sweet. We then spent time with other people. My best friend Elizabeth asked Mason for his phone number to give it to my friend Hadassah, but Mason said to wait. Later on that Sunday, Mason, my friends, and I went out for lunch. I went over to Mason to ask for his phone number, and he gave it to me. He was willing to pick up Elizabeth and me, and then we drove to First Dallas Deaf. Somehow, Elizabeth left Mason and me alone together in the car for 2 hours on purpose. Then Elizabeth came running to the car, and Mason dropped us both home.
🇨🇳 Mason was born in China. When he was six years old, he was adopted by his parents and moved to Amarillo, Texas, where he was homeschooled. I just wanted to take a moment to share that Mason loves Jesus and truly follows Him. He's such a great, godly man and takes such good care of me. I'm really looking forward to sharing my life with him, and it's incredible to see how God is working in his life. I feel extremely grateful that he chose me and I chose him as well. 🇱🇷 Hadassah was born in Liberia, West Africa. When she was 8 1/2 years old, her parents adopted her, and they moved to Iowa, where she was homeschooled. When she was 14, she had a dream where she was standing and holding a daughter. She saw a man fighting against a fire-breathing dragon, a Chinese dragon. In the dream, the man opened a Bible and protected them from the dragon. Her daughter was smiling, and then the scene became very dark. Hadassah woke up surprised, wondering what the dream meant. She couldn't figure it out until she asked her friends and prayed, trying to discern its meaning. Later, during Youth With A Mission in Jamaica, her friend Kevlasha suggested that she might marry an Asian man. Hadassah laughed and said, "No, that can't be," but Kevlasha insisted. Hadassah couldn't imagine marrying an Asian man and said, "In my dreams." However, dream after dream, she realized that the dream was significant. She continued praying and seeking answers but couldn’t figure out what the dream meant. Eventually, she met Mason. Later, during a date with Mason, when she was taking a picture of him, Hadassah saw a picture of a dragon similar to the one in her dream behind Mason! She finally realized that the man from her dream was Mason. She is so grateful to have Mason in her life. She has seen God's work in both of them since they first met. She realized that he was adopted and she was adopted, but from different countries, and that he was homeschooled and she was homeschooled. There are many similarities between them. He is a Christian, and she is a Christian. 🇨🇳+ 🇱🇷 🫶
That day, on Friday, July 19, 2024, we planned to get together in the morning to take pictures in Palo Duro Canyon, TX, and we enjoyed our time there. Mason got down on one knee and proposed, "Will you marry me?" I quickly said, "Yes!" My ring came from Mason’s grandma. Interesting fact: Mason’s grandmother kept the ring for 50 years! So the ring is very precious, valuable, and important to us. “Every good and perfect gift is from above…..”James 1:17
As we prepare for marriage and strive to build a strong foundation centered around Jesus, I would really appreciate your prayers for both of us. Thank you so much!
