It all started on Kristen's very first day at Sacred Heart University when she stepped foot in the men's basketball suite to meet her new colleagues. Head coach Anthony Latina made a big deal over the fact that Tom and Kristen were from the same area (they both said Philly and he was quick to point out that Phoenixville and Unionville did not sound like Philly). During the introductory conversation, Tom found out that she played basketball and invited her to play some staff hoops that week. After a successful staff hoops run where Kristen and Tom's team kept winning (obviously), he then invited her to happy hour with coworkers at the Old Post Tavern. She's not gonna say no to a happy hour. They really hit it off after drinking beers and then getting some Colony Pizza. Fast forward many happy hours and a few dates later, Tom asked Kristen to be his girlfriend on National Tequila Day after drinking lots of margaritas (there seems to be a trend here). It was not until after they were official and he had her in the palm of his hand that he decided to casually mention that he was moving to New Jersey to work at Rutgers University. They racked up so many miles on their cars and so many hours on FaceTime during those 10 months before Kristen was able to land a job at Rutgers and they could finally be together. A few months later, Tom popped the question during the coldest day in history on Christmas Eve at Longwood Gardens. The surprise didn't stop there as they drove to his parents house to share the exciting news, when Tom brings out a new kitten, Rocky! All of this was within a 20 minute span and Kristen was overwhelmed with emotions. Rocky is the best kitty in the world in case anyone was wondering. And the rest is history as they begin their lives back in Connecticut where it all started as Tom got invited back to Sacred Heart and the pair is living happily above a Colony Pizza.
