Heaven, known to many as Hoody or Niva, has poured her all into every soul blessed to be near her. With grace, strength, and that signature assertive love, she’s guided us in ways we’ll never forget. I’m beyond blessed to have her as my sister and confidant, and I pray God blesses her and E in abundance for all she has poured into her family and community. She’s has made countless sacrifices, giving up collegiate softball scholarships to stand firmly as an older sister, serving youth for free every birthday at Camp Unity for over 16 years, working multiple jobs to contribute to her family, and putting her own dreams on hold to care for our grandparents, parents, and us. Hey Everyone! I’m Talavou “Vou” Aumavae, and if you don’t know me, I’m related to Heaven in every way possible. Heaven and I first crossed paths in 2011 when a fleet of Pacific Island nation catamaran boats cruised into the San Francisco Bay. Our real bonding kicked off at Camp Unity, where we teamed up as camp facilitators. Along with my sisters Rochelle and Dominina, and Heaven and her siblings, we spent countless sleepless nights and chaotic days together. It was during these moments that Heaven became more than just another cousin—she turned into a big sister to me and my siblings. There was even a time when my grandma, after I’d practically moved into the Liaiga-Anoa’i house, showed up at their door asking, “Is Talavou here?” That one still makes us laugh because I was so ka’a behd she had to come looking for me. I’m beyond thrilled to celebrate this beautiful new chapter in Heaven’s life. We’ve all witnessed her and E’s love story blossom and grow stronger with time.
