Tying the Knot!

Bill and I met through a dating app. We had short conversations for a few months asking each other about how are day was. One day while out in the city for some drinks with my girlfriends, one of them had messaged him asking if he wanted to meet up in the city for some drinks. He said yes. A few of my friends had to leave, leaving just me and my one friend at the bar waiting for him. As he arrived, that one friend stayed five minutes and left me hanging with a stranger I had just met... Who knows what he was like? Was he crazy? A serial killer? Who would have known that this person would be the person I would spend the rest of my life with and I wouldn't have it any other way. - Ha

Our first date ended up being on a really rainy night. The original plan was to go to the helium comedy club in center city then walk around the city since it was supposed to be a night. I picked up Ha and drove us down to the city. We had a great night talking on the car ride and at points during the show. We spent the night laughing and enjoying each others company. After the show, we both decided to just call it an early night since we couldn't do much because of the rain. We talked all the way back to her house and began making plans for a follow up date. - Bill

I had invited Bill out to a cook out so that I could spend some time with him and get to know him better. We had a great time just being in each company. He met a few of my friends and coworkers there having little conversations here and there. As the night came to an end, we hugged each other as we were getting ready to leave. He hopped into his car and I jumped into my friend's car. As I was sitting in the car, my friend asked me "DID YOU KISS HIM?" I responded "No..." She then replies "HE DROVE ALL THIS WAY TO SEE YOU AND NOT GET A KISS? You better go and kiss him!" As she was the driver, I got out of the car and walked towards his car. He pulled down his window and I leaned towards the car and kissed him. - Ha

A few people knew i was ready to propose beforehand. My initial plan was to propose on the beach with Ha on a family trip to Maryland. I told my sister my idea and she said I should ask her parents to be respectful. I then waited and I had confirmed with her mother through Google translate that I wanted to marry her daughter and wanted her approval to ask which I got a yes to. For my new plan I said to Ha i wanted to have a big date night since we hadnt gone out in a while and she seemed excited not knowing my plans. I planned first for us to have a nice dinner in Atlantic city since that is where we would usually go for overnight trips when we started dating. After the meal, I had tickets for a comedy club as that would be a throwback to our first date. Unfortunately, dinner went long so we ended up skipping the comedy show. We then decided to go out and walk on the beach where Ha got to go dip her feet in the water and just have an enjoyable day. As we walked further up the beach, Ha decided to put down a blanket she brought to sit and relax towards the end of the night. As she put that down, I kneeled behind her waiting for her to turn around. The excitement in her voice when she turned made the whole plan worth it. She happily said yes and proceeded to put on the ring and then she called all our family and friends. After the calls, we sat on the beach and the final plan kicked off as Atlantic city had a whole fireworks spectacle set for that evening. We sat there enjoying the show and taking pictures including ones with Ha's hand with her new ring and fireworks going off in the background. - Bill
