Yes, a parking attendant will be present at The Christy House to help guide you to a parking spot
After the ceremony, the bridal party will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can head straight to the lawn and bar area where we will be serving popcorn and beverages.
We're going for the "garden party" look! In the tent you'll find bunting handmade by Harper's "Granny" and centerpieces were put together using antique bottles found by the groom. We're old souls, so the vintage themed items were our favorite part of planning the centerpieces.
Due to the historic nature of The Christy House, the facility is not handicap accessible. Our wedding will be taking place on grass for both the ceremony by the smokehouse and the reception under a tent.
The Christy House was built by D. LaMar Christy in 1929. DL was an engineer born in 1891 in Fremont, Ohio. After attending Fremont Ross High School and studying mechanical engineering at The Ohio State University, DL designed the machinery to manufacture his brother's sliding blade knife. In doing so, he received a patent for a part he invented. He later became the President of Colonial Bank, and after realizing small banks would not survive in the future economy, presented the idea of a merger with Croghan bank. Aside from his professional career, DL was a part of the Exchange Club and National Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He provided land on his farm where The Christy House sits for a Boy Scout cabin and let them use his farm for scouting instruction. He enjoyed all sorts of outdoor activities, and planted over 2000 trees in his lifetime.
While we love all of the children in our lives, we have decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults-only event
