Lance elicited the help of his parents to prepare a proposal that would catch Gwen off guard. Lance set up a flower petal pathway that led to a heart in the living room. To Lance's surprise, Gwen came home a bit early as Lance scrambled to place signs around Archer and Oliver's necks that read "Will You" and "Marry Me?". For those of you who may not know, Archer and Oliver are their two beloved puppies. They both blacked out in the moment but let's just say they both cried and didn't even know what to do with themselves in the excitement. Lance did say something along the lines of, "I wanted to ask you in a place that you love (our home) with the ones that you love (our little family)." ♥
We met through mutual friends on Lance's family boat. Gwen was with a friend at Fern Ridge Lake. Lance was wake surfing on the lake per usual. Carmen, our soon to be sister-in-law, invited our mutual friend and Gwen on the boat. After what felt like 30 FAILED attempts to even get up on the surf board, Gwen's determination and smile caught Lance's attention. Meanwhile, Lance's positive coaching and encouragement peaked Gwen's interest. Lance direct messaged (DM’d) Gwen on social media and the rest is history...
I knew I was in love with Lance pretty early on. It was a moment that took my breath away and gave me a feeling of knowing...We were driving home from the best camping trip with my family. I remember just feeling so at peace and reassured with how great he was around my family and how my family - dad included - seemed to like him. And that's huge! This trip happened to also be the first time our families had gotten a chance to meet. It just solidified all the feelings I'd been growing for Lance and how much he makes me laugh and smile. That drive home with the windows down, hair blowing, sun burnt cheeks, jamming to music and smiling...was everything.
Gwen and I were laying in bed talking after a day on the boat. I remember vividly her laying there talking as all I could notice was the sun shining through the window on her just right. In that moment, I knew I found the woman I love.
