In 2007 we met as marching band members at Council Rock High School South He played the saxophone, I was in color guard. At the end of band camp, we received a joke “the couple that isn’t but should be” award and have been together ever since. -Gwen
After more than 10 years together at the time, I knew making the engagement a surprise would be challenging. I figured that if I couldn't quite catch Gwen off guard when popping the question, I'd prepare something else special she wouldn't expect. When we closed on our first condo together in December of 2017, we drove straight to the property to take pictures out front as newly minted homeowners and partners in crime. Our lovely realtor had a professional photographer hidden just around the corner for the big moment as she snapped pictures from her phone. When a stifled "yes" finally came through amidst joyful tears, we headed inside to pop the bubbly and make sure our first memory in the new place was a great one. Little did Gwen know our dearest friends and family were already inside, champagne in hand. To then be swallowed by such a sea of hugs and warm wishes was a feeling unlike any other. I get by with a little help from my friends. -Elby
