Once upon a time it snowed in Texas. That night, Jess was celebrating with the school staff at the local tavern and Shawn was recently retired, dog-sitting for his nephew, Igore. When the snow came, the staff mostly cleared out, and Jess invited Shawn for a drink. It was decently awkward, but they still saw each other again.
