Elizabeth knew there was something special about Guy soon after she moved to Boston and began attending the same young adults church ministry, Cafe. Later that year, Guy noticed Elizabeth, too, when she encouraged him one time he made dinner for a Cafe gathering. Elizabeth later reached out, offering to help if Guy cooked in the future for Cafe, and was delighted when Guy asked her on a coffee date in April. After Guy learned about Elizabeth’s upcoming move and considered how busy he would be finishing his master’s degree while working, Guy thanked Elizabeth for the date but told her he wanted to just be friends. They still tried to meet up as friends, but after some scheduling issues, Elizabeth confessed to Guy that she preferred not to see him again because she liked him and did not want to make her move more difficult. But Guy realized there was something special about Elizabeth, too, and surprised her by responding with a text: "Dating long distance would be hard, but for the right person it would absolutely be worth it." The door Elizabeth thought closed swung wide open, and Guy's words quickly came true. Elizabeth and Guy soon discovered that a long distance relationship with all the flights, bus rides, road trips and life transitions ahead was unquestionably worth it. Through hours of phone calls and weekends spent traveling, Elizabeth and Guy grew in gratitude and love for each other and how God brought their stories together. The next few months brought several milestones: meeting the parents, helping each other move, attending a wedding together, among many other memories held precious to both. February 1st, 2023 marked the largest milestone they experienced yet. With a ring - a promise of a promise - Guy asked Elizabeth the most important question he could ever ask.
