A giant old house they turned into a large seafood joint. What makes Owens especially special though outside it's obvious Old Florida charm is the backyard. Bring cash only because they have a beers, drinks and campfire cooked seafood next to a live band most nights. Seats are first come, first serve.
The northern most Key and closest to the the hotel block and wedding venue. A large tiki bar with good cheap food and plenty of cheap frozen drinks and beer on the water. An excellent lunch and happy hour spot. A hard spot to match when there having a drink watching the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico.
If you're feeling spry after all the evening festivities, Kayaking through the Lido Key mangrove tunnels is magical for all ages. Call ahead for reservations. Theres a good chance you'll see dolphins and manatees up close this time of year.
This is definitely an off the beaten path spot. Drive 25 minutes south of Sarasota on I-75 and find yourself driving down an old dirt road to one of Florida's oldest in land backwoods fish camps on the Mighty Myakka River. Snook Haven boasts pit bbq, $20 canoeing with dinosaurs, some of the best brackish water fishing around, live music and a river cruise fro the more cautious.
Seemingly in the middle of a suburban neighborhood, Gulf Gate is a surprisingly vibrant neighborhood with plentiful of bars and resturants. Exactly as the title states. The main club on Siesta Key. Definitely gets lively at night. Especially the same week as the wedding (Spring Break)
One of the oldest bars in Sarasota and the more fun ones in our opinion In the style of an old saloon in the center of downtown. Gator club has two floors. The first being a rock n' roll venue and they second being a pool hall/bar and dance club. Defintely a lively spot.
Evie's has a large driving range with a bucket of golf balls for $5 day and night and clubs for free use backed by a large outdoor bar with cheap drinks, indoor bar, mini golf, an arcade, pizza and ice cream parlor. A great, affordable spot for adults and children! We love this place!
$35 will rent a 4 person lane for an hour and a half and a lesson in axe throwing! It's much easier than it looks and it's a blast! Plus you can carry in whatever you like to drink! Kevin throws competitively in the league and is friends with the whole staff and owner. If you go mention his name!
Great spot to buy bait on the water, grab breakfast (The best Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich in Florida), grab lunch (one of the best cheeseburgers around), or a pint and watch the sea birds fly and around and bait fish swim in the shallows.
