Southwestern Railway

Getting to Winchester by South Western Railway From Heathrow: Take the Elizabeth line (train) eastbound to London Paddington, then the Underground (Circle or District line to Jubilee line) to London Waterloo. Total transfer around 45–60 mins. From Gatwick: Take a Thameslink or Southern train northbound to London Bridge or Clapham Junction, then connect to London Waterloo. Around 45–60 mins. --- Once at London Waterloo, board a South Western Railway service toward Basingstoke or Southampton — trains to Winchester run frequently, roughly every 30 minutes. The journey from Waterloo to Winchester takes approximately 1 hour. Winchester is a direct stop, so no further changes are needed. Tips: - Off-peak tickets are significantly cheaper than peak-hour travel - Winchester Station is compact and central — taxis to Avington Estate are available right outside

Getting to Winchester by Rental Car From Heathrow (LHR): Pick up your rental at the terminal, then join the M3 motorway southbound. Follow the M3 all the way to Junction 9 (Winchester) and follow signs into the city. Simple, mostly motorway driving with no complicated junctions. Around 1 to 1.5 hours. From Gatwick (LGW): Exit Gatwick heading west onto the M23 northbound, join the M25 westbound, then pick up the M3 southbound toward Winchester. Exit at Junction 9. The M25 stretch can add time depending on traffic — allow 1.5 to 2 hours to be safe. Winchester to Avington Estate: From Winchester city centre, head northeast on the B3047 toward Itchen Abbas. Follow the road through the village of Avington and the estate entrance will appear on your right. Use postcode SO21 1DB on your sat nav. Around 10 minutes.
