Raquel and Gustavo met at their local Starbucks. Raquel, a former barista, studied frequently for her nursing school. Gustavo, in between breaks as a photographer, would see her study. He tried to get an opportunity to talk to her, but he didn’t know what to say, until he did. Raquel saw this tall monster stand before her and thought, “Whoa.” They talked for a bit and almost instantly felt a connection. Gustavo felt something he had not felt with anyone else before, and wanted to find out where this feeling took him. The feeling was mutual with Raquel, and she gave him a kiss goodnight so that he could take the hint. He did not. And yet! He got her number. The rest… as they say… is history.
Their first couple of dates after Starbucks were great! They’d talk to each other over the phone often. Raquel and Gustavo wanted to spend as much time with each other as possible. Their second date was at the Bakersfield Art Museum. Their third date was a stroll through downtown for First Friday. They continued to meet up for walks in the park, nights at the theater, and evenings for dinners.... Until Covid came and everything was set at a stand still....
Gustavo was obviously nervous. he and his parents came over to have posole with raquel's family. soon as they came through the door; raquel knew something was up. he popped the question! we all know how that ends.
wedding planning was going so smooth. Planning with the venue company was going so good! People would ask us how's wedding planning? we'd shrug and say good we got everything. All we need is the cake. Until February… The original place left us on our asses looking for another VENUE! luckily we stumbled upon one that we love. Our new date became June 25th at the Kern County Museum. Gives us more time to procrastinate ah I mean PLAN!
