In February 2013, we met in a statistics class while attending Cabrillo College. On the second or third day of class, we sat next to one another. Nicholas remembers thinking Courtney was edgy because she had black nail polish on and was wearing a pleather jacket. Courtney remembers thinking Nicholas smelled good. We became lab partners that day and continued to sit next to one another. At the time we weren't looking to date, so we were friends. Late night bonfires, lunches in Santa Cruz, carpooling, and Giants games ensued as months went on; we became really close and knew that there was something more. We officially started dating in November of that year, and everyone who knew us well said "finally."
On November 27, 2019, we planned to celebrate our anniversary. When Nicholas got home from work that morning, he told Courtney that he had something planned and that she would have to wait and see how the day would unfold. We drove over the hill and Nicholas took Courtney to Twin Lakes Beach in Santa Cruz, where we had triumphantly burned our statistics notes in a bonfire six-and-a-half years earlier. It was a stormy morning and the rain had just subsided; there wasn't anyone on the beach. Nicholas suggested we go for a walk, and we got close to where the waves were breaking on the beach. After just a few minutes, we stopped and looked at the ocean. Then, Nicholas got down on one knee and poured his heart out. Through his tears he asked Courtney to marry him, and through her tears she told Nicholas "yes."
We are so grateful to announce that we will not need to withdraw any invites to our most special day. You all are incredibly important to us and we couldn't imagine getting married without you. San Luis Obispo County has released guidelines for large gatherings and we intend to follow all guidelines. Fortunately, we will be primarily outdoors! However, guests will need to wear masks while indoors. Guests will only be indoors when fetching drinks from the tasting room. The safety of Rangeland employees is extremely important to us, so we sincerely ask that all guests take this mask requirement seriously. Also, please be prepared to wear a mask when in the buffet line for dinner to keep our staff and vendors safe and comfortable. Additionally, guests are required to wear a mask when on the shuttle to and from the venue. To further promote the safety of all guests, guests will have their temperature checked when boarding the shuttle. Finally, as per the guidelines set in place by the county, all guests will need to either: 1) Be fully vaccinated (last vaccine dose taking place two weeks before June 6th) OR 2) Receive a negative COVID test within 72 hours of June 6th Guests who are unable or unwilling to get vaccinated or tested for COVID-19 before our wedding are encouraged to celebrate us from afar. We are immensely fortunate to be together soon. We cannot wait to see you. We love you!
