For a week and half, G had been pretty insistent on coming down to Tennessee to celebrate the 4th of July weekend with me and my family. Since he had a long weekend coming up. He drove down after work on Thursday and we made plans to go hiking in the morning. Then on Friday morning, we left for our hike at the Fall Creek Falls State Park. We decided to do the long hiking route which would let us see the falls from various overlooks. We had been hiking about an hour or so when we came upon the overlook where it all happened. At this overlook you had to go down these rocks and then climb up another set of rocks to get to it. (This overlook gave you a view of the whole gorge, the valley and the waterfall! So pretty right??) As we started going down the rocks, this other young couple came up behind us and followed us to the overlook as well. I told G that it would be the perfect spot to get a picture on my good camera. So I offered the couple behind us to take pictures of them, if they would return the favor. I get done taking pictures of them and G, exhausted by the hike and waiting for me to finish small talk with the couple, was sitting under a tree near one of the rocks. And it was funny, because after I'm pretty sure the couple, like me, did not expect what happened next. After they took the first picture of us. G turned to the guy holding the camera and said, "Give me just a second." He turned towards me, got down on one knee and asked, "You have navigated me this far in life, would you give me the honor of being my navigator for the rest of my life?" At first, I can tell you quite honestly that I was so shocked and surprised that I didn't even hear anything after he got down on one knee. I think I must have asked twenty questions about the how?? It took me a minute to even register what was going on. Well needless to say, I came back down to planet Earth, I said YES!
