Detroit Metro is probably the best place to fly into. It's about a 4 hour drive to the ferry port in Mackinac City.

If you would like to arrive at a closer airport, Cherry Capital Airport is the best option. It is only a beautiful two hour drive from Mackinac City.

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island is a beautiful place to stay. There are plenty of Inns, Bed and Breakfasts, and Rentals near the Island House. We suggest staying close to the hotel, since there are no cars on the island, but if you don't feel like walking or riding a bike, there are horse drawn carriages to take you anywhere in town.

Mackinaw City is just a ferry ride away from the island. There are plenty of places to stay here that are a little more approachable.

St. Ignace is another beautiful little town on the main land that has a ferry port. There are plenty of hotels and rentals available.

Starline Ferry

Mackinac Island is accessible by ferry only. There are ferry ports in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. A ferry will depart from both cities nearly every half hour, and it only takes about 16 minutes to arrive at the island. If you are booking a room at the Island House, ask them for ferry tickets for a discount.
