FAQs

The Wedding Website of Günce Yalçın and Doğu Duyuran
Question

What are the main events in a Turkish Wedding?

Answer

It will start with a cocktail at 7 PM, followed by the wedding ceremony. Turkish Wedding Ceremonies are non-religious government ceremonies that require 2 witnesses of the love between a bride and a groom. Then we will move to the tables and dinner will be served. We will have our first dance followed by everyone slow dancing. Then we will go into Turkish and English songs that we will dance to. There will be a LOT OF dancing, and some traditional dances will be involved. If you are interested to learn more about these traditional dances, check out Zeybek, Halay, Damat Halayı, Ankara Havası, Romen Havası, Göbek Havası on YouTube. Then we will continue with the wedding cake and finish the night with tea and coffee. At 12 am, we will vacate the premises and go to the after party.

Question

What is the food and drink situation?

Answer

We will have light bites and cocktails before the ceremony. Then we will move onto our 3 course meal with a meze platter, an appetizer, and the main course. Main course will include ribeye steak. We will then have dessert and finish the night off with Turkish coffee and tea. The wedding will have an open bar once we move to the dinner area. The cocktails passed around before the ceremony will be preset, but "bottomless".

Question

What if I do not eat meat or I have allergies or other dietary restrictions?

Answer

We will accommodate all dietary restrictions as long as you mention it in your RSVP.

Question

What if I do not want to come to the after party or the beach day?

Answer

You are not obligated to attend any of the wedding events unless you absolutely want to! We love the opportunity to celebrate with you in your own terms!

Question

Can I bring my child(ren)?

Answer

Absolutely! Please mention it in your RSVP when you do so. We have already accommodated space for all of our guests' children.

Question

Where is your registry?

Answer

Having you with us on our special day is the greatest gift we could ever ask for. Truly, your love and support mean everything to us, and we don’t expect anything beyond that. In Turkey, it’s traditional to give gold, money, or jewelry at weddings as a gesture of goodwill. While we don’t want you to feel any obligation, if you wish to honor this tradition, we’ve created a small fund for convenience in our registry tab on this website. But please know, just celebrating with you is all we need to make our day unforgettable. Thank you for being part of our lives and this joyful moment!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

For our celebration, we ask that guests dress in elegant attire suitable for a beautiful outdoor setting with a view of the Aegean Sea. Ladies are welcome to wear cocktail dresses or long gowns, considering the warm weather, but we recommend bringing a shawl or light jacket as the evening breeze may make it cooler. Gentlemen may wear a suit or dress pants with a button-up shirt, and can choose to wear ties or bowties if they wish. Please note that the ceremony and reception will be on a grass surface, so we recommend comfortable shoes for walking. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in style!
