The University Club of New York has some rules. They expect sound judgment throughout all areas of the Club. Kindly refer to the guidelines below. Men are required to wear a suit jacket or sport coat, a collared dress shirt, and slacks. Club attire for men includes: • Suit jackets or sport coats • Collared dress shirt • Dress slacks • Ties, cravats, or ascots Women are required to wear tailored clothing which includes suits, dresses, or skirts. Tailored slacks may also be worn if accompanied by a jacket, elegant sweater, scarf, or a tailored or beaded top. Club attire for women includes: • Suits • Dresses • Skirts • Tailored Slacks paired with either a Top with jacket or elegant sweater or scarf OR Beaded or tailored top The following apparel is prohibited in the main areas of the Club House. • Jeans and other denim apparel (regardless of color) • Leisurewear of any type • Capri and cargo pants • Rompers • Shorts • Leggings • T-shirts • Sportswear • Bare midriff tops • Mini-skirts • Athletic clothing • Thongs/beach sandals • Sneakers/athletic shoes Overnight Guests and Athletic Facility Users Members and guests staying at the Club or accessing its athletic facilities may wear informal clothing and shoes when passing through the lobby. They may access the front doors and elevators wearing informal apparel as long as it includes no prohibited items (see list on back panel), and must proceed directly to their destination. Members and guests wearing prohibited apparel must enter and exit the side entrance at 3 West 54th Street.
