Originally a friend and former coworker of Groom, Matty has since also become a close friend to the Bride. Matty and Gui met during a job interview in DC. They were both hired, became close friends, and have remained close ever since. Matty, Gui, and Liz have had the opportunity to travel to many fun cities together for corn hole tournaments, weddings, & other fun adventures. Liz and Gui asked Matty to marry them, as he has been present since the beginning of their love story and witnessed it unfold first hand. Matty was also the provider of the fanny-pack for Gui’s infamous “The Rock” costume that caught Liz’s attention. He was handpicked as the officiant as the Bride & Groom wanted someone meaningful to help them tie the knot!
Gabe Hauari

Brother of the Groom. Gui and Gabe spent their early years of childhood in Brasil playing at a small ranch with their cousin, Danilo. After our gang of 3 moved to the US, we've all maintained a close relationships through family shenanigans and sports. As our dad says, the three of us were a "gang" especially when playing for the same soccer team for our high school.
Allison Willey
Matron of Honor
College friend of the bride and fellow D1 swim team member. Liz and Allison have been pals since Liz began her swimming career at GMU in August of 2012. Since then, through their time in NOVA & after when they both lived in Boston during grad school, their relationship has continued to remain strong. Whether it be exploring a new food spot (as long as it's 4.5 stars or greater), curling up on the couch and rotting together while watching a rom com and/or Gilmore Girls, or Allison letting Liz talk her into going on some crazy day adventure, it is never a dull moment. To this day, Allison remains one of the Liz's best friends and is like the sister she never had!
Andrew Meleta

College friend of the bride. Andrew was Liz's first college friend, when they both happened to sit at the same table for the orientation of the Mason Ambassador tour program at GMU. They bonded over enjoying the same music and chatted about possibly going to a Passion Pit concert when they came to GMU later that year. Before leaving the orientation, they exchanged numbers in hopes of making those concert plans. They never did go to that concert, but to this day, Andrew's name in Liz's phone is "Andrew Meleta Passion Pit Guy." Since then, through the many moves they have both made around the country, they still find ways to keep in touch, remain best pals, & plan their next aggressive trip together!
Amelia Browning

Childhood friend of the bride. Amelia & Liz met when Liz joined Eagles Swim Team in Fall, 2007 after they bonded behind the blocks at a swim meet while jokingly singing Silver Bells as a pump up song before a race (11 year old us thought it was funny). Although Liz and Amelia have not lived in the same city since they graduated high school, both of them have kept in touch, remain close friends, and continue to visit each other in all of the places they both have lived including, Bavaria, Germany, State College, PA, Washington, DC, Boston, MA, & Midland, TX to name a few!
Daniel "Dirty" Martinez

Childhood friend of the groom. Gui and Daniel met in fourth grade and have remained friends for 20+ years. Throughout their teenage and young adult years, you could always find them together at various soccer pitches, rap concerts, enjoying the nightlife in Richmond and DC, and visiting friends across the country.
Karly Neuss

Grad school friend of the bride. Although they have not lived in the same city since their time together in OT school while living in Manchester, NH, Liz and Karly have made it a point to stay close & involved in each other's lives. Karly and Liz now work for the same travel healthcare company, as they both pursue their dream of traveling the country, working as travel Occupational Therapists. Adventures together include, but are not limited to, swimming with dolphins. 🙃
Danilo Hubel

Cousin of the Groom. Danilo and Gui have been close their entire lives, where they spent their childhood in Brasil climbing trees to eat mangos, freeing horses from their stable for our dads to chase, and attempting to get Gabe to play in the grass.
Emily Swersky

College friend of the bride & fellow GMU college athlete. Emily and Liz met on a cruise ship to Bermuda one month before Liz started her freshman year at GMU. While talking with Liz on the cruise ship, Emily mentioned the freshman dorm room her and her roommate Sarah lived in the previous year. Come to find out, that very dorm room was the dorm Liz was scheduled to move into. It was a meant to be friendship from that moment on. Following that first meeting, Liz and Emily went on to live together one summer in college and have remained close friends. Although they have not lived close to each other in many years (Emily and her husband have travelled around the country to numerous locations that her husband has been stationed with the Marine Corp), they have made it a mission to continue to stay close, travel to see each other, & continue to support and watch each other grow!
Felipe Furquim

Childhood friend of the Groom. Gui and Felipe met through soccer during their teenage years and have been friends ever since. A majority of their time spent together has been on the soccer pitch, watching soccer games, playing FIFA on Xbox, or nerding out about space and tech.
Sarah Weber

College friend of the bride and fellow GMU college athlete. Liz and Sarah met after other fellow bridesmaid Emily brought Sarah to Liz's freshman dorm room window to say hi on the night of college move in and meet the girl who was living in their previous freshman dorm. Since then, throughout the remainder of their college years as well as the time they have spent both living in the DC area, Sarah and Liz have only grown closer and been a part of each other's lives for many milestones.
Nick Orefici

College friend of the Groom. Gui and Nick met in college, where they were randomly placed as neighbors and quickly became friends. Most of our college and adult life has been spent perusing bars in DC and NYC, and sharing/reviewing newly released rap songs.
Hannah Hicklen

Childhood friend of the bride. Liz and Hannah met on their club swim team of North Baltimore Aquatic Club at 8 years old. Since then, they have gone on countless adventures together including attending the midnight showing of Twilight in their younger years 😏, biking 40 miles one weekend during the Pandemic out and back to the PA state line, & attending many concerts over the years (Bare Naked Ladies, Hootie and the Blowfish, & Nickelback to name a few). As fate would have it, they even wound up living just a few blocks from each other when both of their lives brought them to DC!
Matt Miller

College friend of the Groom. Gui and Matt met in college and alongside Nick, and the three quickly became known as the "Out Here Crew". Most of their post-grad life has been spent trying to catch each other in various cities throughout the US and sharing rap music along with Nick and Dirty.
Alexa Paiva

Friend of the Bride. From her time living in Boston, Alexa and Liz met during a Volo cornhole league after both signing up solo to meet friends. They did not win the league due to their poor cornhole performances, but their friendship stuck. Although they don't live in the same city anymore, they both stay in touch and make it a point to stay present in each other's lives for the special moments. Alexa even travelled to Chicago to watch Liz run her first ever Marathon!
Dan Pierce

Friend of the Groom & former roommate. Gui and Dan met at their first adult job at the Advisory Board Company in DC. After quickly becoming friends and then roommates, Gui and Dan spent of their time "skrting" around DC and enjoying bottomless brunch. Gui was also proudly present when Dan met his future wife and former Advisory Board employee, Kate.
Tim Kenna

Friend of the Groom. Gui and Timmy also met in DC working for Meltwater. Gui, Matty, and Timmy spent plenty of time together at work and still chose to hangout outside of work enjoying DC happy hours, concerts, sporting events, bottomless brunch, and arguing about Jeopardy. Gui and Timmy have remained a close friendship and had the chance of exploring California together when their paths crossed in San Francisco.

College friend of the Groom and former roommate. Gui and Chris met in college, where they spent a majority of their time together bouncing around campus eating olives and trying to figure out business school homework. Both moving to DC after college, they spent four years as roommates figuring out adult/work life while enjoying everything Adams Morgan and U St has to offer (mostly jumbo slice).
Matthew Purnell

Younger brother of the Bride. Gui and Liz wanted Matt to be involved in their wedding to help make the day more special! Matt and Liz, although very different in personality, have always been close throughout their lives and share a love for live music, going to a great baseball game, and even just chilling and going out to eat/seeing movies together whenever home to catch up on what new things they are up to.
