McKenzie and Brandon are not even sure where this story exactly starts. They can take it all the way back to 2006, sixth grade, where Brandon swears he saw McKenzie for the first time walking into a whole school assembly. Or, the story can start where Brandon says they had their first date in Salem in late 2019. Or they can go by McKenzie’s timeline, which starts in April 2020 during their “talking” stage. While they may not know where their story exactly begins, they know that it’s going to continue together. Brandon and McKenzie have always been friends, but throughout Covid they definitely became more than friends. They would drive over two hours to see each other and have all of their first dates happening within Covid guidelines. A lot of their dates consisted of watching TV in McKenzie’s tiny studio apartment in MA, having Brandon show McKenzie music on YouTube in his apartment in CT while singing them all to her, or through FaceTime. None of this ever bored either of them, and it created amazing opportunities to get to know each other at a deeper level than they already had. Their surface level, friend of a friend, friendship turned into a deep and meaningful friendship, which turned into a cautiously optimistic relationship, and then turned into what it is now. They are now a friends-to-lovers trope in a romance movie that would’ve made both of them roll their eyes to watch. In April of 2023, Brandon proposed to McKenzie in California overlooking the Pacific Ocean after a crazy day. It was perfect. McKenzie has never been a jewelry person, but this ring is one she never wants to take off. She is happy that Brandon had to start getting used to his on 4/17/25! They can’t wait to watch their story continue to progress, and they can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Since this question will come up a lot… “Why Charleston?” Charleston was their first vacation together. Brandon and McKenzie fell in love even more there. The world had closed down when they had first began dating. Having the world open up more in 2022, they felt safe enough to finally travel. And, they had to go Charleston to try Poogan’s because Brandon couldn’t stop talking about it from a previous family vacation he had been on. Traveling is a part of life and you want to make sure that you have a good travel partner. During this vacation, they learned a lot about each other. McKenzie learned how stressed out Brandon gets during flights, and Brandon learned how stressed McKenzie gets before the flight lol. They learned that they could count on each other throughout the entire travel process though and keep each other as sane as possible. They also learned what type of vacation people they each are. And luckily, they’re the same. They are open to close, move-around-all-day people, squeezing-in-every-bit-of-the-day-that-they-can people (contrary to them in real life, they’re aware). Some of their best stories come from this vacation too. Seriously, have you asked them about bar hopping with a local who had just had a massive fight with his ex wife? He took them to a speakeasy and multiple rooftop bars? Did you ever hear about the time McKenzie was trapped in the hotel bathroom and Brandon had to get maintenance to fix it, once he was done laughing? Or the time Brandon got sick and… well actually, maybe you all don’t need that story, but it was one of the funniest moments McKenzie ever experienced. So why not get married in a place that brought them so much happiness and tons of memories? It’s time to add one more memory there!
