Mid-April of 2016, I complained to Austin about a boy that I was seeing and he gave me fantastic advice. I couldn't stop thinking about Austin, so the next time I saw him at the gym, we hit it off and I asked him out to dinner, just for his reply to be, "Only if you pick me up." So, I drove to his house and picked him up. He still claims this wasn't a "date", but look where it led - I'd consider it one. You know what they say: "'You miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky' - Michael Scott"
For a month, we had a cookout scheduled at my mother's house to welcome my grandparents back from Florida for that day. I couldn't wait for that weekend even though I had to work in the morning. Usually, Austin texts me and asks how my day is going or went, but he didn't this time. I knew he was with my younger brother, Noah, who also has not texted me. I called my mother to make sure everything was okay. Little did I know, he was next to her, setting up my surprise proposal party! We went to my mother's and my future family and my closest friends (which some had driven 2.5 hours) were there to greet me and support us on one of the most important days. That night, I started planning the most anticipated day since I met him - the day I get to become his wife.
