We first met when we attended a Friendsgiving in late November 2022. John was reluctant to attend, but his friends convinced him to stop by for a little while. He knew only a couple people at the party, and found himself gravitating towards an empty corner of the room. Rachel decided to come over and strike up a conversation with John, a conversation which continued for the rest of the night. Before leaving, Rachel had what she thought was a quiet conversation with a friend, wondering how to get John's number. After her friend told Rachel to "just go for it," she asked John if he would be interested in hanging out again. When he said yes, Rachel responded "well you should probably take my number." We kept texting and set up a date at The Publik House in Brookline the following week. From there we started spending as much time as possible together. Since that first night in 2022, our relationship has seen us visit numerous states across the country, explore London and Paris, and Rachel make the long trip from Brookline to move in with John in Waltham. In late July 2025, we were spending the week in Cape Cod with Rachel's family. Unbeknownst to Rachel, sitting in John's bag was a ring whose center stone came from Rachel's grandmother's ring. On July 24th, we started the night at Chatham Bars Inn and made our way to the beach where John said we could take photos of the lighthouse at sunset. After traipsing through the dunes, and multiple jokes from Rachel about an impending proposal, John finally summoned the courage to get on one knee and propose. But before he could, a large group of college students stumbled onto the beach. Slightly shaken, John led Rachel further down the beach and finally began to give his rehearsed spiel. Rachel interrupted saying something to the effect of "Oh my God, are you proposing?!?" John went down on one knee and blacked out. The next thing he knew, he was putting the ring on Rachel's finger with the cheers of the college students coming from down the beach. Now the countdown has begun to our wedding!
