It was a warm evening in August of 2019. David stood alone outside El Tejano, nervously watching the cars pass. He looked down at this phone, memorizing the face of a photo. This was David's first time meeting someone from a dating app. "Don't fall in love," he told himself, "It's okay if things don't work out." Charlotte parked her Prius across the street. "One hour," she told herself, "give him at least an hour and then you can go. You have to work tomorrow anyways." She hung her purse across her shoulder and headed toward the bar. Above the crowd, she caught his eye.
Four years later, in the backyard of Charlotte's childhood home, David put an arm around her shoulder. "It's a shame we can't use the yard for the wedding, but how about the next best thing?" David pulled a small wooden box from his pocket. Before he could even ask the question, Charlotte exclaimed "No way!" That was the reaction he was hoping for. She threw herself into his arms, the only answer he needed. Oliver, confused by the commotion, cocked his head.
