Sami and James met in a tough Intro to Criminal Law class during their senior year at SUNY New Paltz. James was the rockstar student who answered every question the professor asked, while Sami hid in the back of the room and quietly prayed she wouldn't be called on to speak at 8 am. Throughout that fated semester, Sami couldn't help but notice James's intelligence and passion as he went toe-to-toe with the professor each class. She couldn't get him out of her head. So, one day, right before final exams were scheduled to begin, Sami coyly asked James to help her study, so she could "get a good grade," knowing deep, deep, down the very last thing she wanted to talk about was criminal law. On the fifth of May 2018, Cinco de Mayo to be exact, Sami and James met up for their first late-night study sesh. They spent hours talking and laughing, having way too much fun on a supposed study date, and exploring their seemingly effortless connection. The next morning, Sami went out of her way to bring James a coffee before their class. She had even remembered how he took his coffee from the night before: three creams and three sugars. They both seemed to float out of their 8 am class that day, and have been almost inseparable ever since.
