It all started with a mutual love for adventure and learning new things. Our adventure began on the salsa dance floor on a random Tuesday night, and Lawrence’s first day in Los Angeles, at an iconic establishment in the Eastside of L.A. Lawrence’s years of salsa dancing practice finally paid off when Griselda realized she finally found an equal. We’ve been inseparable since that moment. We quickly started our next adventure of searching out LA's best taco spots – or best 2-for-1 deals on food and beer. We took trips to see world wonders, and we challenged each other to grow to better versions of ourselves. Over the last 9 years, we've learned to be each other's biggest cheerleader, and devil's advocate, for whatever life threw at us. To more breathtaking sunsets together, more experiences that leave us speechless, and living our life with purpose & tons of love. We wanted to have this wedding to not only celebrate the formalized union of two people, but to gather our family and friends to meet for the first time or reminisce of old times. Just so happened a trip to Hawaii was planned -- a far off land Griselda had always dreamed of going to -- so Lawrence arranged something special. As we all might already know, Lawrence creates cocktails for a living. Griselda loved this drink from a bar in Downtown LA, and they had an on-going joke where she would 'encourage' him to recreate the cocktail and give her credit by putting her name on the label. Lawrence of course refused each time. Until he decided to make the drink…and think of something sneaky. Once on the island on the big day he pulled out this drink, now called the Bourbon Berry Smash, surprising her so she can try it for the first time after he pretended to have left it in LA. She screamed with excitement. After a few minutes, he revealed to her that for an early birthday present he did, in fact, put her name on the label. More screaming ensued but of disbelief saying 'noooooo', and ''no you didn't!'. As she intently focuses to search for her name, Lawrence subtly pulls out the ring, Griselda finds a message asking if she will marry him, he gets down on one knee, and he asks her to marry him: and she goes from 'nooo' to 'yes'. P.S. The first 2,000 Bourbon Berry Smashes that were sold to the public had this discreet message.
