It was the first day of the school year at Sonoma State University in 2015. We both showed up to the same English 101 class not knowing that would be the day we both met our person. During class, the professor made all the students introduce themselves and say where they were from. We bonded over the fact that they were both from San Diego (an entire 500 miles away). Not only that, but we had been living about 10 minutes away from one another back home and had never even met. That day was the beginning of a long time friendship that started with walks home from class together every Monday and Wednesday evening, geocaching by the bay at night and navigating college life together. Later that year Jacob found out he was mistakenly put in that English class and never should have had to take it in the first place. In hindsight, what could have felt like a wasted semester turned out to be a fluke that we are both extremely grateful for now.
