After over a month of texting and phone calls (what seemed like an eternity) we finally were able go on our first date. The day was February 2nd, 2020.....the super bowl.....(WE DON'T CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL). Jesse made the plans, wouldn't say where we were going and INSISTED on picking me up from my home (stranger danger!!!). Once the day arrived, Jesse greeted me at the door and awkwardly came in hot with a handshake to which I batted away and said "get that thing out of here and give me a hug, ya weirdo!" We ended up going on an 8+ hour date running around Kirkland and Arlington before grabbing Jesse's Corvette for a joyride.
Sam and I planned a get-away trip to the Inn at Longmire on Mt. Rainier to enjoy the beautiful winter weather. I was shy and nervous for most of the night before and the day-of. We rented snow shoes from the inn and took off snow-shoeing around Barn Flats, normally a camping area in the summer. It was Sam's first time snow shoeing and she was having a blast! We followed the trail to an intersection which opened up to a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainier. I thought to myself, this is perfect, this the place I'll ask her to marry me. Unfortunately, as we moved closer to the picture-perfect setting, I noticed a family enjoying the snow. Instead, we stopped and took some pictures together with the mountain as a back-drop. We made our way further up a side-trail getting into the trees, when I noticed Sam's boot had become untied. I decided this was the moment. I got down on both knees to fix her boot lace and when I came up, I started blubbering as I asked her the big question. She smiled and happily said yes! Once we got the ring on her finger, Sam shoved me back in the snow and laughed. We took pictures and enjoyed our moment of happiness, following it up with a picnic in the snow where we fed some of the birds flying through the air around us. Truly a memory neither of us will forget. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you!
