Come Hang with Us for the Week!
We fell in love with the Canadian Rockies on our first trip together as a couple. It was an easy choice to make this the wedding destination of our dreams! We understand this is a long way to travel and we want to make it worth your time. We will be venturing out to the Banff/Yoho National Park area the week prior with a few activities planned per day for our friends and family! This will include hiking, canoeing, paddle boarding, exploring Downtown Banff and Lake Louise, fishing, golfing, mountain biking, maybe some white water rafting?? Full details on activities are to come, but for now consider making a vacation out of our celebration and come explore the Canadian Rockies with us! Though the venue is technically in British Columbia, it is right on the border of Alberta. The best airport to fly into is the Calgary International Airport located in Alberta, Canada. The airport code is YYC.
Travel Note
Travel to the Venue from the Airport
From Calgary International Airport it is a 2h 33m drive to the Emerald Lake Lodge deep in the mountains between Yoho and Banff National Park. The majority of this drive is on a major highway with clearly marked lines and signs, though the closer you get to the lodge, the less road lights there are. Please keep this in mind if you are uncomfortable with driving in the mountains at night. Emerald Lake Lodge is located approximately 200km (125 miles) from Calgary, Alberta. To reach the Lodge from Calgary, leave via 16th Avenue heading west. This route turns into the Trans Canada Highway #1 – which you will follow directly to Field, British Columbia. 2km (1 mile) past the town of Field you will approach a turn-off clearly marked for Emerald Lake. Follow the road for 8 km until you see a sign that says ‘Overnight Guest Parking.’ Turn left into the parking lot. In the parking lot is a cabin. Use the telephone in the cabin to call our front desk. A shuttle will be sent to pick you up and bring you to the main lodge.

Emerald Lake Lodge
Our guests may reserve blocked rooms by calling the Emerald Lake Lodge Central Reservations number at 403.410.7417 Monday-Friday 8 AM- 4:30 PM MST (10 AM-6:30 PM EST). At the time of reservations, guests will be asked to provide a valid credit card, so please have this handy! Guests must identify themselves as being with the Griffith-Craig Wedding. We have blocked off queen and king rooms (1 bed in each room). You are able to upgrade to another room type (including a suite) if available at the time of booking. Please be aware that check-in is not guaranteed until 4pm on your day of arrival. We are kindly asking our guests to stay at the Emerald Lake Lodge with us on Saturday, September 21 as we will not be providing transportation to and from the lodge and uber/lyfts are not available. We would like to enjoy the special day with our family and friends and no worries of drinking and driving on dark mountain roads. We also invite guests to stay at the lodge with us on Friday, September 20 as we will be hanging out together at the Kicking Horse Lounge and enjoying the fire on the patio over drinks. Plus you wont have to worry about that late check-in time on wedding day!
Shuttle

There is a shuttle service from the Calgary area to the Field area if you choose to utilize this instead of a rental car. The closest stop to the airport is called "Calgary - Marlborough Mall" and is about a 19 minute Uber from the airport. This shuttle travels to both Field and then on to the town of Golden. This shuttle departs the Calgary area at 7:55 AM each day and arrives in Field at 11:15 AM for total travel time of 3h 20m. From the Field station it is a 13 minute drive (this will need to be coordinated with a guest to pick you up in their rental car - we are unsure about the cab situation in Field). The total for the ride is $76.19 CAD per person.
