One of our go-to hikes! Mushroom rock is 2.2 miles long round-trip with options to add more miles to make it a loop, and has stunning views of Mt. Sopris and the valley. The trailhead is a five minute walk from either hotel.
Just a classic! Hike 8.1 miles round-trip to a pair of serene lakes at the base of Mt. Sopris. Follow the bumpy, but passenger-car-doable Prince Creek Road about 30 minutes from Carbondale. You'll want to give yourself 4-5 hours to get from town to the lakes and back.
If you're looking to scratch an off-roading, hiking, and BBQ fix, look no further than Marble, Colorado; Its a 45 minute drive from Carbondale down HWY 133. Some its greatest hits include hiking to the Crystal Mill and devouring a well-earned meal at Slow Groovin'. Note: there is no cell service up here, so plan accordingly.
Sweat it out at this scenic hot spring resort in Glenwood Springs. Iron Mountain has 16 geothermic pools best accompanied by a tasty beverage from the bar.

Aspen is roughly 30 minutes from Carbondale and lives up to its reputation. Shop in town, hike in Ashcroft, or take an epic drive on Independence Pass - you can't go wrong!
