We want to take a moment to celebrate the fact that, on our special day, some of you may know one of us really well while being less familiar with the other. So, allow us to set the stage. Griffin was raised by an Irish man from New York City and a small-town woman from Iowa. He is the oldest of three and grew up in Olathe, Kansas alongside his two younger sisters, Kate (25) and Olivia (16). Griffin attended Kansas State University, where he graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Morgan, on the other hand, is the oldest of two. She was raised by her mom, but has been deeply shaped by the love and support of both of her parents. She and her younger brother, Cade (20), spent most of their childhood in a suburb of Tulsa, Bixby, Oklahoma. Morgan attended Oklahoma State University, where she graduated with a degree in University Studies with an emphasis in Education and Human Sciences with a minor in Learning and Motivation. At different points during college, both Griffin and Morgan worked at the same summer camp. After a few brief run-ins. They would have considered each other nothing more than acquaintances, never imagining that one day they’d be sharing their story on a wedding website.
For those of you who know Griffin, you already know he is an initiator, a pursuer, and a people-person who genuinely loves getting to know others. So it should come as no surprise when we fast-forward our story to the fall of 2024. After living in Northwest Arkansas, Griffin asked a girl who had just moved to the area to pursue her dream of working in full-time ministry to grab coffee. They remember that coffee a little differently - one thought it went great, while the other remembers it being slightly awkward. After that first coffee, they decided a little time was needed. They continued working alongside one another and slowly getting to know each other, allowing their friendship to grow. Then one day in December, Morgan asked a simple but brave question: “What if we gave this thing a shot?” What makes that moment especially meaningful is that the initiator got what he had been praying for all along - someone who would initiate toward him.
Over the next few months, Griffin and Morgan continued to get to know each other. They took turns planning dates, spending time with friends, and sharing long, meaningful conversations. What a sweet gift it is to learn who someone truly is by watching them live their life. Griffin began to see how the Lord used Morgan as a steady presence - someone dependable, strong-willed, and quick to extend grace rather than blame or shame. He witnessed her deep love for the Lord and her heart to share that love with others through her everyday actions. Morgan, in turn, saw how the Lord used Griffin to seek out those on the “outside.” Through his gift of intentionality, Griffin has a way of making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and truly at home.
After taking a premarital class at their church, Morgan and Griffin knew that marriage was what they wanted to pursue. The question that followed for Griffin was simply how. With plenty of help from friends and family - who helped set the proposal scene and plan the engagement party - and from the Lord, who made sure the weather was absolutely perfect, Griffin pulled off the surprise. The day went down as a truly perfect one, and a moment they will both always remember. Now, as we look ahead to our wedding day, we are filled with gratitude and excitement - especially knowing we get to celebrate it alongside the people we love most. We cannot wait to see all of you and share this joy together.
