Taylor and Gretchen met on the island of Hawaii (the Big Island). Taylor was there to celebrate 2 years post major accident and being out of a wheelchair; Gretchen was there for her love of travel and to see her friend Alyson. They both attended a concert that neither wanted to be at. Taylor's friend Garrett convinced Taylor to go by saying "what if you meet your future wife there?!". And so he did! Taylor approached Gretchen, asking for her number and the communication commenced. They got together again two other times while on their respective vacations and during this time, realized that they both lived in Phoenix just twelve minutes from one another! They decided to go on an official date once back in Phoenix and that's all it took...one date and they spent the following 31 days together. Taylor says he knew Gretchen was the one during their first date. Gretchen knew about one week later when she saw pure love in action from Taylor towards her. Since then, they have met each other's families, spent holidays together, took many trips together (including an incredible one to Thailand), celebrated many milestones, shared in the difficult and the delightful, encouraged one another, challenged one another, have seen growth in their faith individually and as a couple, and as of July 18, 2025, fifteen months after their first date, said YES to forever and their call to build an impactful and Godly legacy together.
