Gretchen and I met at UNH about 8 years ago. This may sound a bit cheesy, but I knew that I wanted to marry Gretchen the moment I saw her, and even more so the more I got to know her. I think a few of my friends may even recall me ceaselessly reminding them that I would be marrying Gretchen one day - I just had to figure out how to get her to want to marry me. Well here we are, so I guess I did a decent job! Towards the beginning of our junior year at UNH, Gretchen and I started to see each other almost every day, talking for hours and learning as much we could about each other. The more I learned about Gretchen the more impressed and captivated I became by her. She's effortlessly beautiful, she's smart, she makes me laugh, she knows how to drive a boat! I couldn't believe how cool she was and that she actually agreed to hang out with me. Getting to know Gretchen and falling in love with her is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. I feel lucky every day that I get to spend with her. Soon enough it was time to head home for the summer after our Junior year in 2017, and on May 17th I mustered up the courage to ask Gretchen to be my girlfriend. A few years later, on March 16th, 2023, I asked Gretchen to marry me. I proposed at our favorite spot in the sand dunes at Rexhame Beach in Marshfield. It was my dream come true.
On a slightly snowy Tuesday evening this past winter, we were blessed to have our wedding ceremony surrounded by our immediate families in the home that Gretchen grew up in. Despite having September 6th at the Bohlin already on our calendars, we agreed that there's no time like the present. With Gretchen's mom, Amy, on hospice care in their home, and knowing no one is ever promised a tomorrow, why wait? And just as easy as 1/23, we planned a wedding in just a few days. It meant the world to both of us to have everyone in our immediate families present to watch us get married. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness knowing that Amy will not be there with us on September 6th, but we know she will be there in spirit as we celebrate with you all.
