The two of us had met a handful of times over the years at events hosted by mutual friends. Looking back, we discovered that our lives paralleled each other often with near encounters but remaining ships passing in the night. At the encouragement of many who knew us both and insisted we would "make a great match", we agreed to meet for an early lunch. Lunch turned into dinner, Denny meeting the folks, rooftop fireworks display and a night of dancing (all the same day). It was the longest first date in history and the beginning of something truly special! When the timing was right our worlds collided and there was no looking back.
On Capitol Island (Boothbay Harbor, ME), one of Gretchen's most favorite places in the world and with Abram by his side Denny asked, "Will you marry us?". We celebrated with both our immediate families on the island, followed by dinner and a champagne toast at The Thistle Inn. Denny customized a ring with a family heirloom diamond from Gretchen's great grandmother, Hazel. With help from her mom, Dianne and jeweler friend of Denny's, he created a stunning one-of-a-kind ring. This will be just one of many sentimental pieces present on the wedding day. Surprising GG is no easy feat, but Denny pulled off the best surprise of her life.
