There's tons of great vineyards in Middleburg so we recommend checking out a bunch, but Cana is one of our favorites. They have a great patio, strong cheese selection, and it's a pretty nice way to spend an afternoon.
Navy Yard is one of our favorite neighborhoods in DC-we even got engaged there! Check out the Salt Line for oysters, Bluejacket for some of DC's best beer, see a game at Nats park, or take a stroll by the water and enjoy one of DC's best views.
Middleburg is of course famous for it's many vineyards, but we also recommend stopping in to Mt. Defiance. We popped in on our very first trip to Middleburg four years ago and keep going back. The cider is local and tasty and the staff is as friendly as they come.
If you find yourself in DC, you can't go wrong at Union Market! There's tons of delicious food counters with everything from bagels to BBQ. One of our favorites is Trickling Springs ice cream-get a scoop of Greta's favorite-the cookie dough!
Greg and I got picnic lunches here on our first trip to Middleburg and we always stop in when we're in town. Some of the best sandwiches in the area!
One of our favorite breakfast places in DC (and just two blocks from our apartment!). They just expanded to include lunch and a wine bar, so this is definitely one of our best recs.
Shenandoah National Park has so much to explore. There are great walking trails and some beautiful hikes. A local favorite is Old Rag Mountain. It's a long one, but you can't beat the view from the summit.
To say we're fans of the zoo is an understatement. We're FONZ members, go to their annual Zoo Lights and Brew at the Zoo events, and even won a scavenger hunt there. If you've never seen a panda, love pandas, or are neutral on pandas, we recommend a visit to the zoo (and to see the pandas).
