Mérida

MéridaMérida

Mérida, Extremadura 06800, Spain

One day is enough to discover the essential Mérida and to bring its Roman past back to life. This World Heritage City boasts a Roman theatre that is over 2,000 years old and is still in use. Visit the city in the summer to see it in all its splendour. In June, the “Emerita Lvdica” festival is held, returning the streets of Mérida to the Romans and the gladiators. The Roman theatre hosts the International Classical Theatre Festival in the evenings of July and August. Do not leave Mérida without seeing the Temple of Diana, the Amphitheatre, the Arch of Trajan, the Roman Bridge, the Roman Circus, the Acueducto de los Milagros, and the National Museum of Roman Art.

Cáceres

CáceresCáceres

Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain

Cáceres is a World Heritage City. We recommend entering the city by its traditional gateway, the 18th-century Arco de la Estrella, a wide arch designed to let horse-drawn carriages pass through. Below you, you’ll see the wide Plaza Mayor, an arcaded square always full of life, with plenty of places to stop for a drink or a coffee.

Monfragüe National Park

Monfragüe National ParkMonfragüe National Park

Villareal de San Carlos, Extremadura 10695, Spain

If you love hiking, nature, birding, history, and magnificent views then Mongragüe National Park is the perfect place for you. Mongragüe was the first natural park to be declared in Extremadura in 1979. In 2007 it was declared a national park, the only one in all of Extremadura. In 2003 the national park and the area surrounding it was recognised by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. It has been designated a special protection area for birds. Here you will find one of the most extensive Mediterranean forests on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the best Mediterranean mountain landscapes.

Sevilla

SevillaSevilla

Sevilla, AN, Spain

Seville is a city that leaves its mark, and many people define it as special. It might be because of the grandeur of its monuments. Or perhaps the charm of areas such as Triana. It may be the scent of jasmine in its squares or the Spanish guitar music of its streets. Some say it’s the tradition of its festivals, and many are convinced its tapas are the real reason. You can see it in the few meters separating the Giralda Tower, the Cathedral, and the Real Alcázar of Seville. La Giralda is a city icon and one of its main charms lies in its viewpoint. The views of Seville are fantastic with its courtyards of orange trees, typical in Andalusia, and a close-up of the largest Gothic temple in Europe, the Cathedral. A visit to the Real Alcázar reveals an extraordinary palace full of details. If you visit in the summer, take advantage of the night visits and the festival held in its gardens.

Córdoba

CórdobaCórdoba

Córdoba, Andalucía, Spain

Córdoba holds a special place in our hearts as it is where Gresh proposed! It is definitely a must, as it is famous around the world for its Great Mosque. Its historic old town is a World Heritage site, full of little streets to be explored, courtyards full of flowers, inviting squares and lively taverns where you can enjoy a good flamenco performance or try the local cuisine. The Great Mosque, the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, the Synagogue, and the Roman bridge are the prime examples of Córdoba’s old quarter. The city reflects its Roman past and the coexistence of Christian, Islamic and Jewish cultures throughout its history. Recommended sights include the Jewish quarter, the Calahorra tower, the Roman theatre, Caballerizas Reales, Plaza de la Corredera…

Caminito del Rey

Caminito del ReyCaminito del Rey

El Caminito del Rey, Málaga, Andalucía 29200, Spain

The Caminito del Rey is an aerial trail built in the walls of the Gaitanes gorge. It is a path terraced onto the gorge with a length of 3km in long sections and a width of barely 1 metre. The trail begins in the municipality of Ardales, goes through Antequera, and ends in El Chorro (Álora). This path is hanging on the vertical gorge walls around 100 metres above the river. Currently, you cannot buy tickets to access the Caminito del Rey at the Visitors' Reception Center. You can reserve and purchase your ticket through this website or directly at the northern access of the Caminito, at the ticket office.

Málaga

MálagaMálaga

Málaga, Andalucía, Spain

Malaga is a city full of historic spots, like the Alcazaba, one of the largest Arab fortresses in Andalusia, or Gibralfaro Castle, which offers the best views over the whole city. At the foot of the castle there is a Roman theatre and an old town to stroll around. As you walk through its streets you'll find spots like the Atarazanas Market, where you can try a vermouth, and monuments like the Cathedral, which is known as “The One-Armed” (la manquita) due to its unfinished south tower. In the city of Picasso, you can visit the excellent Picasso Museum in the centre, and the home where he was born.

Alhambra de Granada

Alhambra de GranadaAlhambra de Granada

Calle Real de la Alhambra, Granada, Andalucía 18009, Spain

As one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain, the Alhambra is truly the jewel in the crown of Granada’s Moorish past. Tickets sell out weeks -and sometimes months- in advance, so we strongly recommend buying your ticket as soon as possible!

Segovia

SegoviaSegovia

Segovia, Castilla y León, Spain

Segovia is a World Heritage City, with unique sights that are worth a trip in themselves. However, once in Segovia you will find the city offers much, much more. An old Jewish quarter, grand mansions, outstanding views and a green belt which is ideal for a pleasant stroll in the sunshine. Don't miss the traditional lunch; the most famous local dish is suckling pig in the legendary Mesón Cándido.
