Our Story

We first met as two nerdy college students at WKU and became good friends pretty quickly. Dillon moved to Indiana for a year and we kept in touch until he moved back. We started talking and hanging out more for a year after that; we were "just friends" even though he unofficially lived at my house and we did practically everything together. It just clicked into place one day and we said what everyone around us seemed to know already: we should be more than friends. We went on our fist date the next day to a Renaissance fair in Tennessee and the rest is history. The proposal was a recreation of our first date. Nearly 4 years to the day and it was perfect. He planned everything to the detail (which, truthfully, gave away some of the surprise; he's not a planner), but he had to do it twice. The original weekend was when he was supposed to do his graduation walk, and he got terrible food poisoning. We laugh about it now, but he was so disappointed that he missed so much and his plans got ruined. Luckily the second try was smooth sailing! We checked out the fair and right as we were watching the jousting tournament, he pulled out this red velvet box and asked the question. I teased him at first because he didn't drop to one knee, but I did say yes, of course, before he got too nervous at me not answering. (I'm still waiting for him to get one knee, by the way.) We've been through so much together and I cannot wait to start this next chapter of my life with him. He has really been my rock, especially when the pandemic started. From streaming our dates in quarantine, to talking him into shaving his head, to our socially distant dinners in Barnes & Nobel's parking lot, I would have went bonkers without you. I love you, Dillon. Here's to many more memories! ~ Allison
