Imagine going to your brothers to make dinner and your life changing forever. There I was cooking my heart out and in stumbles a guy I’ve never seen before. He’s drunk and rude and criticizing my cooking. Then he see’s that I have Tollhouse cookies sitting on the counter waiting to go in the oven. He says he can make better cookies and walks out the door to prove it. Not long later he comes back with a tray of homemade cookies and a margartia that tasted like just tequlia. Needless to say it was not a great first experience. Fast forward a few months to St Patricks Day and he shows up on the party bus we have going to Savannah. Most of the group thought he could be gay but I wasn’t sure. Throughout the day we could feel the connection growing. I got his number from someone in the group so I could text him. A few days later we had our first date at Greg’s house where he made dinner - lasagna. I’ll admit, his was much better than mine. Ever since then we’ve been inseperable.
While Tatiana was studying in London I came up with a great plan for us. What’s more romantic than a proposal overseas? During her mini break I flew over for a whirlwind of a weekend. A quick day in London followed by a day in Brussels, a day in Amsterdam, then another day in Brussels before flying back home. She had her hopes up during the trip that I would propose, she had picked out the ring before she flew out to London. I had to find the perfect moment while hiding the ring from her. The first day would’ve been too obvious, I needed to wait to build up the anticipation. In Brussels we were strolling through the city and it was nearly impossible to keep my excitement hidden. I knew what was coming and needed the right moment. Finally we found a park with beautifully landscaped flowers and shrubs with fountains going through it. It was time for the proposal. I wanted it to stay a surprise for her so I told her we could do a fake proposal so I’d be ready for when it’s time to propose. After going through everything I loved about her I asked if that’s where I would get down on my knee. She told me yes but I didn’t have to since I didn’t have the ring. I asked “What if I do have it?” and smiled as I pulled it out and got on my knee. It was instant tears from her eyes as she said yes. It was one of the happiest days of my life.
