FAQs

Please see below for answers to some questions you may have regarding the ceremony and reception.
Question

What can I expect at mass?

Answer

We are having a Tridentine Mass, so it will be in Latin; be sure to pick up a missal from the usher to help you follow along. Additionally, some women in the congregation will have on chapel veils, all women are welcome to wear them if they would like.

Question

I’m not Catholic, can I take communion?

Answer

We’re so happy you’re attending mass with us, but since Catholics believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, we ask that you kindly refrain from receiving communion if you have not professed your faith within the Catholic Church.

Question

Is there anything I should know for parking?

Answer

For the ceremony, please either park on the street in front of the church, or in the lot behind St. Stanislaus. You can access the lot from S 6th street. Please be wary of your surroundings and do not leave any valuables in your car. For the reception, there is street parking all around Onesto that is metered, or there are paid parking garages nearby on E Chicago St and N Milwaukee St.

Question

What do you mean by formal attire?

Answer

Formal attire consists of suits for the men and gowns or cocktail attire for the women. Please bear in mind the ceremony is in a church, so please dress in a way that respects the sacred space.

Question

How close is the reception to the ceremony?

Answer

The reception venue is only 8 minutes by car from the ceremony. Please keep in mind there is a break between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception; we recommend you check out our “Things to Do” tab of the website for suggestions that are a short drive or Uber ride away from both venues.

Question

Will there be foods accommodating dietary restrictions at the reception?

Answer

The reception will include gluten-free meal and dessert options.
