Greg and Maddy met while they were both living in London in early 2018. They instantly had a lot in common despite being from opposite ends of the world. At this time of their relationship, they also lived on opposite ends of London. Maddy lived in trendy Shoreditch in the East End and Greg lived in Fulham with the rest of the Aussies in London in the South-West part of the city.
The end of December 2018 was a big milestone as they took their first trip together to Dublin and Greg (finally) decided that he'd like to be in an exclusive relationship. When Greg came back from Australia over Christmas, he hinted to Maddy about moving in together. Maddy shrugged it off as a joke. On the second attempt, she agreed! In March 2019, Greg moved in with Maddy in Shoreditch. They've been practically inseparable ever since. Throughout the rest of their time in London they traveled together a ton - Chicago, Romania, Amsterdam, Provence, Lake Como, Champagne, Greek Islands, Japan, Portugal, and Turkey. They also were able to visit each others' hometowns. Maddy introduced Greg to New York pizza, bagels, and the Jersey Shore. While Greg introduced Maddy to cricket, rugby, and meat pies (not her fave).
Maddy and Greg made the move to Sydney in August 2020 during peak covid as Maddy's work visa in the UK was expiring. After one long stint of hotel quarantine, adopting a terror of a puppy (though we love him), and settling down in the Paddington suburb of Sydney, Greg proposed to Maddy on their three year dating anniversary. Greg surprised Maddy with a private boat ride around the Sydney harbor, and though it's not clear if he ever actually did ask her to marry him, Maddy said yes!
