Things To Do

Westlake Plaza

Westlake Plaza

942-1014 South Westlake Boulevard, Westlake Village, CA 91361

Staying in Westlake Village? This boutique outdoor mall is only a 15-minute walk from our main hotel and has lots of great spots for lunch and dinner, as well as clothing stores, fitness studios, and salons.

Paradise Cove

Paradise Cove

28128 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265
, (310) 457-2503

When was the last time you drank a cocktail out of a pineapple? Paradise Cove features a private beach with lounge chairs to rent and a cafe where you can buy fun cocktails to enjoy on the sand. If you dine at the cafe, consider sharing a dish between 2-3 people - the portion sizes are huge!

El Matador Beach

El Matador Beach

32350 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265

This is probably the most picturesque beach along the coast! We highly recommend spending an afternoon here.

The Sunset Restaurant

The Sunset Restaurant

6800 Westward Beach Road, Malibu, CA 90265
, (310) 589-1007

What better way to end a beach day than sipping on a cocktail and watching the sunset? Located at Zuma beach (which is also an awesome spot for a beach day), this restaurant serves up great cocktails and seafood.

The Getty Villa

The Getty Villa

17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Los Angeles, CA 90272

The Getty Villa is modeled after an ancient Roman mansion and home to the Getty family's expansive antique collection. Whether you're into art or not, it's worth going just to see the architecture and gardens. It's free to visit, but you need to book ahead of time.

Tuna Canyon Trail

Tuna Canyon Trail

2802 Tuna Canyon Road, Topanga, CA 90290

Malibu has tons of great hikes, but this is one of our favorites. Of all of the hikes in the area, it has some of the best ocean views. From ridges 1,500 feet up, you can look east toward Santa Monica Bay and west up the coast of Malibu.

Huckleberry Cafe

Huckleberry Cafe

1014 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Hands down BEST brunch spot on the west side. There will likely be a little wait if you go anytime after 10am on the weekend, but it moves fast and is so worth it!

Santa Monica Pier

Santa Monica Pier

200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401

We know this is cliché, but it’s a must-see while you're in the area. There's an amazing view from the top of the Ferris wheel and if you're into old school fairground games, you'll find 'em all here.

Big Dean's Ocean Front Cafe

Big Dean's Ocean Front Cafe

1615 Ocean Front Walk, Santa Monica, CA 90401

This is one of our favorite casual watering holes. Located right behind the Santa Monica Pier, consider ending your beach day here. It features a wide selection of cheap drinks and bites. We recommend the Mahi Mahi tacos!

The Rose Venice

The Rose Venice

220 Rose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90291
, (310) 399-0711

This all-day eatery has two patios, a bar, and a bakery. It's one of our top choices for brunch. If you decide to go, we recommend trying the breakfast burrito (Greg's choice) or gold's standard (Jocelyn's choice).

Gjelina

Gjelina

1429 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90291
, (310) 450-1429

About 45 minutes from Malibu, this place has such yummy pizza and shared plates it's worth the trip. Great if you're staying in the area for longer. While you're there, walk along Abbot Kinney - the street has lots of fun bars. If you're craving dessert, check out Salt & Straw for handmade ice cream.
