We are lucky to be one of the internet dating success stories. We met in November of 2021 on Bumble. Greg’s wife of 35 years had passed away very unexpectedly earlier that year and I had finally embraced the concept of internet dating after my Mom passed in 2018. We planned to take it slow, but love took over once we got to know each other better. We met each other’s respective families, took a few trips together and ended up engaged in December of 2022. After buying a house together in November of 2022. We decided a wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum would fit us and then found out that the soonest we could wed was May 4, 2024, which was a long time to wait. So we cheated a bit and did a tiny, but lovely wedding on May 4, 2023 in our backyard. We were lucky to be surrounded by family and friends and our dogs. Our house is a big focus of ours right now. We’ve spent most of the last year shoe-horning all of the stuff from our respective houses into this one. In the meantime, we have made friends with the folks at the local charity shops and on Facebook Marketplace. We had planned to do some changes, but as we have settled in, we’ve discovered that we underestimated the work that needs to be done. We are looking forward to the day when it is done, but right now we are planning to put in an endless pool, fix the fence, fix up the she-shed’s electric and heat, re-do the kitchen, re-do the master bath, replace windows and do a whole bunch of painting! Joanne is retiring in February to be the general contractor for all of these projects, as soon as we are able to fund them. So we would ask that if you do gifts, please ear mark them for a “building our life together fund (one of the projects)” or give us a shared experience with you, as we never see our family and friends enough. As for our respective interests: Greg is an amateur Naval historian, an avid board gamer, computer gamer and miniatures wargamer. Joanne breeds her Scottie’s, does Stained glass, and loves to bike. She is also hoping to learn how to use her cricut machine and sewing machine and catch up on her reading, once she retires. We both cherish our time spent with our five dogs, D’Jango, Sara, Becky, Sebastian and Annie, as well as time carved out with friends and family. We are so excited to be sharing our joy in celebrating our marriage with you and we look forward to you helping us build a strong and amazing life together!
