For us, it all started at the St. Paul Catholic Student Center. Fall of 2022, Greg was returning as a sophomore, looking to continue discovery and growth in relationship with Christ. Hannah, a freshman, was eager to personally experience the relationship with Jesus, which she had learned about in high school at Kapaun Mt. Carmel. We met the first week of that semester and soon became good friends; each enjoying the company, laughs, and conversation of the other. Realizing our common priority, living abundantly through Jesus, inspired a deepening of our relationship. Soon, Greg made the move and asked Hannah to start actively discerning marriage; Hannah said yes. Our relationship continued through the next semester and summer of growth, trial, and discovery of each other and the plan The Father has for each of us. As summer came to a close, conviction of the life commitment of marriage had fully blossomed. On the Feast Day of St. Faustina, October 5th 2023, Greg asked Hannah to be his bride; Hannah said yes. Over the past months, we have continued to grow closer to each other and Christ as we prepare for our wedding feast amidst the chaos, trials, and joys of another semester. We are grateful for the St. Paul community, formative opportunities, our families, friends, and The Lord for the wonderful ways we have been blessed. We are so excited to continue our journey to Holiness as spouses and hope to enjoy together the eternal wedding feast someday.
October 5th holds a special place in both Greg and Hannah's hearts for a very specific reason. Back in high school, Hannah developed a devotion to the Polish mystic, St. Faustina. Our Lord appeared to her and commissioned her to paint the image of Divine Mercy. Years later after meeting and falling in love, the couple began their own unique and special devotion to the sweet saint. From praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet together, to every day holy hours, and even the day Greg would get down on one knee, St. Faustina has had her influence. On October 5th, St. Faustina's feast day, the couple had seemingly normal plans-- dinner and a walk at the Great Plains Nature Center. However, when Greg stopped at a clearing along the lake and got down on a knee, their lives would never be the same. And in all of it, St. Faustina has had her little way.
