Travel Note
Traveling from Denver International Airport (DIA) to Estes Park takes about 1.5 to 2 hours (75 miles). Here are the best ways to get here: 1. Direct Shuttle (Recommended for Car-Free Travel) The most convenient option if you don't want to drive. Estes Park Shuttle: Direct service from DIA to the Estes Valley. Fares are roughly $75 each way. Check availability and book online via their website. 2. Rental Car (Best for Exploring) Gives you the freedom to easily explore Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Both routes take 1.5 to 2 hours: Route 1 (Via Boulder - Best for scenic views & lunch stops): Exit DIA on Peña Blvd. Merge onto I-70 W, take I-270 N, and connect to US-36 W straight into Boulder. Stay on US-36 W through Lyons, then follow the winding mountain climb right into Estes Park. Route 2 (Via I-25 & CO-66 - Best for bypassing city traffic): Exit DIA on Peña Blvd, merge onto I-70 W, then quickly take I-25 N toward Fort Collins. Take Exit 243 for CO-66 W toward Longmont/Lyons. Follow CO-66 W to Lyons, where it merges with US-36 W to take you up into Estes Park. Tip: If arriving during afternoon rush hour, Route 2 via I-25 is usually the more predictable drive! 3. Public Transit (Most Budget-Friendly) Costs around $15 but takes about 3 to 3.5 hours. Route: Take the RTD bus from DIA to Boulder. From Boulder Junction, transfer to the RTD bus line that connects directly to the Estes Park Visitor Center. Plan schedules on the RTD Denver website.
