We met in the London airport on our way to Serbia for a 35day long missions trip. I (Kayla) was in the process of moving my entire life to Europe for an undetermined amount of time, and neither of us was looking for romance, in fact I was vehemently against the idea. Blake respectfully kept from showing obvious signs of having romantic feelings for me but, being the servant that he is he would make my instant coffee in the morning at the hostel, and being the scholar that he is he would regularly ask my opinion on passages of scripture or a portion of one of the tomes that he had brought with him. With all of these little things Blake slowly started to wear down the walls that I had put up and, though I was still in denial, by the last week it was hard to fight the fact that I had feelings for him too. On the last day of the trip Blake asked if he could call me when he got home, I said he could as nonchalantly as possible and waited anxiously to hear from him. We had our first call two days after I arrived in Budapest and from that day on we didn't miss the chance to talk whenever we could. We both fell fast and hard and it wasn't long before we both realized that our search for "the one" was over.
As I stepped off the plane in Dallas I was both nervous and excited to see Blake in person, but as soon as we hugged everything felt natural and all my insecurities melted away. We spent a couple of days just spending time with each other and his family as he showed me around his hometown. Then on the night of our four month anniversary he took me to Southlake Town Center for a stroll while playing some of our favorite songs on his phone. All of the sudden a song that I didn't know came on as he stopped me in front of a huge Christmas tree and turned me to face him. As the words "So darlin' if you're wondering' why I've got you here tonight I want to be your husband, I want you to be my wife," played, he got down on his knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. I said yes and immediately heard the screams of family and a couple of our friends who had been hiding in the bushes the whole time. The Cowboy managed to surprise me with everything and I can't wait to begin a lifetime of surprises with him.
