We met in January 2024 while both living in Washington, DC. Our first date at the National Museum of Women in the Arts went so well that we weren’t ready for the afternoon to end, so we grabbed coffee and kept talking until the cafe closed. And we've kept talking every day since then. On our second date, we realized that we had both attended the same elementary school in Apple Valley, California. A few weeks later, Megan visited home, found a yearbook, and discovered that John had been her brother, Ryan's, classmate. It felt like a coincidence we couldn't ignore. Not long after we met, John took a job with the U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi. Even though it meant long distance, we decided to go for it and spent the next year and a half talking on the phone or over FaceTime every day. In September 2025, Megan made the move to Lilongwe, and we finally got to be in the same place again. By 2026, we both knew we wanted to stay in the same place forever. Over Easter weekend, we took a long, bumpy road trip to Lake Malawi where we hopped on a boat out to a small island. There, John popped the question and Megan said "Yes." Now we're so excited to celebrate our wedding with you!
