I (Leah) decided to try facebook dating. I was on the sight for about 2 weeks and being extremely picky with who I wanted to get to know. I came across this picture of a man behind a dead deer dressed in full on cameo gear. I thought to myself what would I possibly have in common with this guy, he kills animals. So I sent his picture and profile to the no thanks pile or so I thought. What happened next was all due to John's next steps. John sent me a message... My first thought on seeing the message was I thought I got rid of this fucker. I responded to his message that night of October 8, 2024 and we have been talking ever since. We talked non-stop for hours and hours and discovered not only that we really loved talking to each other but we have the same birthday. After John learned that he told me this was MEANT TO BE! I personally thought that was full of shit but now look who has egg on their face... ME! John was right it is meant to be. I was at dinner with Allie, on October 11th (My mom's birthday) and told her I think I found my person after knowing him 4 days. According to John's mom he just swore off dating a couple of months before and then low and behold here comes a woman 9 years to the day younger than him and completely turns his world upside down. We didn't get to meet in-person for almost 4 weeks later because I went to Naples for 2 weeks, in those 2 weeks we logged hours and hours on the phone and facetime. I even told my 2nd mom I was going to marry John one day, I just knew it. Since I have returned from Naples in November, we are always together when we have free time. I told John he needed his passport to date me, he had it by the end of March! Fast forward to August 9, 2025, we are getting ready to go to Punta Cana with another family. I was packing John's stuff and wanted him to bring me 6 T-Shirts and some personal items. John showed up with bags of new clothes and nothing I requested. I went through the bags and noticed everything was not the correct size. He told me they would fit so I made him try on the clothes in my livingroom. I was right the clothes were not fitting properly so we packed it all back up and went to return things before it was too late. While we were returning the items John kept asking me certain questions about rings. I didn't really think anything of it because we both know we are meant to be together so I answered him with very vague answers since I have never worn a ring in my life. I actually asked Siri where the closest jewlery store was just so we could go see what was out there. Little did I know I was walking right into John's trap, We walked into the jewlery store and told the sales associate that we were "just looking". I was just looking but John wasn't. He was ready to purchase an engagement ring that day. (He was nervous that's why the clothes he brought were wrong a size and he even wore 2 different shoes that day, we discovered afterwards.) After trying on roughly 15 rings and me going in the smaller stone section and John going to the larger stone section. We found the perfect ring! The Sale Associate told John it was on sale and tax free weekend. He was sold because he had a plan. He told me that "We are going to do it evenutually so why not do it now". What do you say? I said yes! I thought I said yes to buying the ring for a later time. hmmm nope that is not what John meant. We purchased the ring and as we are walking out John told me to put on the ring, I said why and He told me I just accepted his proposal so WE ARE ENGAGED! I was left speechless. YES, Leah Greenberg was out of words. John did formerly ask me to Marry Him and of course without a doubt in my mind, I said YES! A few days later we went to Punta Cana as an engaged couple and then decided we wanted to get married there! My mom always told me I was going to run away and get married so thats what we are doing!
