How We Met

October 26, 2012

In Fall 2012, Grant came across Abby's profile on an online dating site and sent a message. Abby promptly responded, which led to lots of emails, texts, and phone calls before an in-person date was finally planned. Without knowing that Grant wasn't a fan of horror movies, Abby invited him to join her for 12 Hours of Terror, the annual horror movie marathon at Belcourt Theatre. He agreed and a plan was set for October 27, 2012. However, the night before, Abby's plans fell through, and she asked Grant if he was free. The two had an impromptu dinner date at Bonefish Grill and immediately felt a connection to each other. Grant and Abby briefly parted ways in 2015, but that didn't last long. After missing each other terribly, they reconnected in late 2017, adopted a rescue dog named Cooper, drove cross-country to Denver, and got engaged. The wedding reception will be held on October 26, 2019, which is seven years to the day since Grant and Abby originally met face to face.

The Proposal

August 4, 2018

Early on a Saturday morning, Grant woke Abby to take a drive into the Colorado mountains. Although she begged for a hint, Grant didn't let any info slip about where they were headed. As they approached their destination, it was clear from the highway signs that they were driving to Red Rocks! Abby had been asking to go since they arrived in Denver in late June. It was a beautiful day, with the sun just rising over the amphitheater. What Grant didn't prepare for was the Yoga on the Rocks program held every Saturday morning during the summer - and the fact that it is always a sold-out event. So Grant, Abby, and 9000 girls in Lululemon pants were at Red Rocks that morning for a ticketed yoga class, which they didn't have tickets to attend. A quick detour led them to the nearby town of Morrison, where they had breakfast and walked along the small river that runs through town. Afterwards they returned to Red Rocks, where yoga class was ending. They toured the small museum that highlights all the acts that have performed at Red Rocks over the years and posed with a taxidermy bear. They walked back outside and took a seat near the top of the amphitheater to soak up their beautiful surroundings. Then, out of nowhere, Grant slid out of his seat and onto one knee, pulling a ring box out of his pocket. He asked Abby to marry him, and she said yes (of course!), and now the big day is almost here!

For all the days along the way
